The inspiration behind The Home stems from the idea that architecture embodies the spirit of a place, and architects have the duty to create meaningful spaces that enhance human existence. Keivani believes that the most fundamental connection between humans and architecture is through the concept of home. In the domestic environment, the relationship between man, light, and space creates a sense of prosperity and peace of mind that is difficult to explain.
The Home lamp features four house-shaped structures, each representing one of the four elements of nature that form both man and the universe. At the core of these houses, light, symbolizing awareness and excellence, is placed. The rotation of the light cubes mimics the movement of the sun, creating a dynamic and captivating visual effect.
The lamp's design also incorporates elements of modern architecture, such as the concrete frame, which represents the disregard for the spirit of the place and the true existence of humans. This contrast between warm and relaxing copper houses and cold concrete houses reflects the confusion of modern life and the need for inner peace.
The Home lamp is crafted using high-quality materials and advanced production techniques. The main structure is made of welded copper pipes, while the central core of the lights is made of matte plexiglass with LED lights. The concrete frame is constructed using lightweight concrete and custom molding, reinforced with GFRC (glass fiber-reinforced concrete) fibers to increase tensile strength. The lamp also features a custom-made touch dimmer, designed by the electronics team.
Measuring 54 x 45 x 25 cm, The Home lamp is a portable and cordless lighting solution that can be easily moved and placed anywhere in your home. The integrated touch dimmer allows users to turn the lamp on or off by simply touching the copper section. Tapping the lamp multiple times also enables control over the brightness of the LED lights. This innovative design eliminates the need for a separate dimmer box, enhancing the lamp's sculptural appeal.
The Home lamp was designed by Nima Keivani and his team in Tehran, Iran, in June 2017. It was brought to life in August 2017, showcasing the designer's meticulous attention to detail and commitment to creating a unique and meaningful piece of art.
With its thought-provoking design and seamless integration of architecture and light, The Home lamp has garnered recognition in the design community. In 2022, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures category. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate innovation, practicality, and adherence to professional and industrial standards, contributing to a better world.
The Home lamp by Nima Keivani is a testament to the power of design to create meaningful connections between humans, their living spaces, and the objects they interact with. Its unique blend of art, architecture, and technology makes it a standout piece that adds both beauty and functionality to any space.
